Women & Children

A non-profit making independent organization for children, youth and women in Uganda. Creating impact for children and youth by delivering our programs through partnerships, and innovation.

Setting up a Children Learning Center that will support Education from Pre-School to Primary such that we can minimise the cost of taking children to other schools.

Who we are

We foster Child Education, Women Empowerment, Poverty Eradication amongst the youth and to provide a worldwide identity, voice and platform for steady transition from childhood to youthful age.

What We Do

Skills to Success vocational training project

Heart to heart Foundation designed this program to mitigate the problem of unemployment and lack of skills amongst youth out of school through increased access to vocational and entrepreneurship skills as a basis for social and economic empowerment. Youths will get training in areas of tailoring, hair dressing, carpentry, computer, home economics and entrepreneurship and life skills. PBR.

1000 Books, 1000 Pens & 1000 Pencil project

This activity is intended to provide scholastic materials to the disadvantaged children in schools since it has been proved that many children in villages lack materials to write in at school and this affects their interest in learning. This is a project that is carried out every beginning of term in other wards we visit schools three times in a year providing scholastic materials to the disadvantaged children, though our main aim is the orphans.

Women Empowerment

Many women die during pregnancy and childbirth, adolescent girls become mothers every year. Women represent nearly two thirds of the Uganda’s illiterate population, very many girls are still out of school in the rural area of Uganda, the completion rates and learning levels of girls are lower than those of boys, Participation of girls in school decreases as they progress through the education system, too many girls are still shut out of school, denying them their fundamental right to education by their parents.

More educated women tend to be healthier, work and earn more income, have fewer children, and provide better health care and education to their children. Girls’ education literally saves millions of lives.

focusing on Women and Girls, there are projects for improving the lives of women and girls and securing their human rights for a better Uganda free of discrimination and towards the end to poverty and hunger.

Heart to heart Foundation believes that empowering women and girls with educational and economic opportunities and securing their health and human rights is one of the best investments we can make for families, communities, and the world. It works with NGO, corporate and government partners to promote gender equality; advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (including family planning); advocate for increased resources and funding for programs and activities benefitting adolescent girls; eliminate gender-based violence; combat climate change; and improve maternal health care using integrated health systems and mobile technology.

Heart to Heart Foundation has designed different challenges, solutions and projects with the vision that All girls, no matter where they live, have the opportunity to become educated, healthy, safe, counted and positioned to be the next generation of leaders. Heart to heart foundation is dedicated to reducing childhood mortality from disease, advocating for the rights of women and girls, improving disaster relief, creating a clean energy future.

Why Choose Us?

Community Based

We engage with the community early, to ensure that community needs drive action and to ensure community ownership of and participation in the project. This grounds solutions in the context of the community.

Rural Based

Typically, women have little or no input into village decision-making. We create conditions for women to take leadership roles. Twice the human talent and energy is now put to work for village development.

We concentrate on villages. Our method takes coordinated, integrated action throughout a village during an intensive project period. Learning happens quickly and synergy is harnessed, so that the sum of the total is greater than the parts.

Knowledge Distribution

We make heavy investments in critical knowledge – we teach planning and problem-solving skills, business and banking skills, agricultural know-how, and health and nutrition knowledge. Most importantly, getting all children to attend primary school is a long-term investment in the knowledge needed for critical economic growth.

Our close, productive partnerships with local governments leverage invaluable expertise and understanding of local conditions. This sets the stage for permanent local management of new civic institutions and activities.

Change Catalyst

Our limited timeframe ensures that Heart to heart foundation acts as catalyst for change, not a permanent conduit for money. Our focus is sustainable development, not aid that breeds dependency.

We seek to make families self-sufficient. They want a hand up, not a hand-out. Self-sufficient families become the foundation for healthy, self-sufficient local economies.

What Our Beneficiaries Say

I am eternally grateful to everyone at HHF and the Donors who made my education possible. I reported to school in February 2010 with only 1,400 shillings for fees, instead of the 33,000 shillings (US $370) I needed. I was taken in because the principal took pity on me. The following day Mr. Godfrey Okello, GTL Western Kenya Coordinator, called me from class and gave me an application for a scholarship to fill out. When I received the first receipt confirming my fees had been paid by GTL, I knew I had to study hard. Now I am at Taita Taveta University in Kenya.
